The Wizard, What A Great 80s Flick... California!

I love Nintendo. Who doesn't? But the thing I love most about Nintendo was their involvement in the best gamer movie ever, The Wizard. Let's face it, you had a young Fred Savage (Corey) traveling across the country with his little brother (Jimmy), whom we at Kick A Rock believe had Autism, all in the effort to get him to the place he longed to go... California!

But like any adventure, it's not about the destination, but the journey that matters most. And along this journey, Corey discovers his quirky little brother happens to be a "wizard" at Nintendo games, including Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden, Super Mario Bros., and one of the greatest game introductions ever, Super Mario Bros. 3. Hell, there's even an epic fight scene with Jimmy's nemesis wielding a Power Glove.

However, for me one of the best parts of this movie, and any Rilo Kiley fan, is the fact that Corey's "girl," whom he befriends during his travels, is actually a young Jenny Lewis. No joke. Check out the trailer below and see for yourself.

So if you're feeling nostalgic and want a fun trip down memory lane, check out this wonderful work of art and enjoy all the 80s gamer greatness it has to offer.

Bitch Betta Have My Money, A Delightful Classic

I love nostalgia. Those opportunities to sit back and reminisce about the simple days of our youth. Back when life seemed so easy, and you didn't have a care in the world. All you needed was $5 to get enough gas to drive around Bremen Mall, or up and down Archer Avenue with your Discman plugged into your in-dash tape deck using a tape adaptor that you bought at Circuit City for $15.

I remember picking up my friends, grabbing my favorite CD, and bumping to the alluring lyrics of AMG's Bitch Betta Have My Money! Who could forget those colorful rhymes about nothing being better than "Black Pussy On My Dick". And I will agree that "Playing Hos Like Dominos" had to be one of my favorite pastimes as a 14 year old Chicago suburbanite. I mean, do you know any girl out there that could argue that "Bitches Need Dick, So They're Buying It"? And lets face it, nothing says economic stabilization better than telling a girl that "You Can Suck The Dickity Dick, But I'm A Charge You A Nut." Ah the good old days!

So if you're in the mood to cruise down memory lane, throw this delightful classic on your Spotify Playlist and let all your worries just float away. Bitch!

Narcos – A Netflix Original Too Good To Pass Up

If you've never heard the name Pablo Escobar, then you've either lived under a rock, or have snorted so many rocks that you don't even know your own name, let alone his. But to sum it up, the infamous Pablo was the leader of one of the most violent and wealthiest criminal organizations in history — The MedillĂn Cartel.

The beauty about Narcos is that it tells the true story of the U.S. and Colombian efforts to battle this ruthless cartel during the cocaine-fueled drug wars of the 80s. Hell, it was scum like this that caused the saying "Just Say No" to be burned in my brain till the day I die. Well, him and the lovely Nancy Reagan. Thanks Nancy!

Nevertheless, if you're looking for a cold-blooded, vicious, down right sadistically shocking series that'll leave you asking yourself how one man could be so damn insanely savage, then give this show a try. Its so addicting you'll burn through the first 10 episodes and be left wanting more. Kind of like a... well, you get the idea.

Real Men of Genius – Advertising At It's Best

Now that the Super Bowl ads have come and gone, my two favorites had to be Heinz's "Wiener Stampede" and Doritos "Ultrasound" (sorry NARAL, but it was funny). However, this post isn't about last nights ads — if you want to see the top 5, check out USA Today's list here.

No, this post is really about my favorite ad campaign of all time — Budlights "Real Men Of Genius." Particularly their salute to "Mr. Giant Taco Salad Inventor." Not only was this campaign hilarious, but it had legs, which is really important when it comes to advertising.

Now, I can go on and on about their salute to "Mr. Really Bad Toupee Wearer" or "Mr. Chinese Food Delivery Guy", but I won't. Instead, you can watch my favorite of the bunch right here in all it's SD glory. Enjoy!
